DC PBJ Snowboard with Jeremy Matherly

Jeremy Matherly of US Outdoor helps paint the picture of the DC PBJ Snowboard which is a great snowboard for Mt. Hood, this time of year.

For skiers and snowboarders, Mt. Hood is a special place that exploits our lust for snow long after all other resorts have arrested their lift operations. Government Camp hosts adventurers of all sorts while High Cascade and Windell’s set up shop to run summer ski and snowboard camps at Timberline. There are pro skiers and snowboarders everywhere, groms a plenty, and of course terrain parks. This is where the DC PBJ Snowboard comes in…

… and yes, kittens, the grotesque kittens created by DC designers. Magical, aren’t they? Jeremy sure thinks so.

Arcteryx Alpha SL Jacket: Product Video Adventure

Ahab has spent most of his days battling creatures of the sea, but every man needs a change of pace sometimes, right? Ahab had grown weary of the sea and the lore behind the Yeti was driving him mad. For years he sought to conquer the mighty beast, but to do so he would have to face other earthy challenges… land, and by extension, snow. This would prove difficult for Ahab, but not for his Arcteryx Alpha SL Jacket.

Unlike Ahab, his amazing Arcteryx Jacket was and still is designed to battle treacherousness alpine and backcountry conditions with its waterproof, Gore-Tex Paclite technology. It is awfully lightweight and waterproof and provides features such as a helmet compatible speed hood, excellent ventilation, waterproof zippers and more to keep Ahab agile and on the move and protected from the elements. Meanwhile, the rest of Ahab’s possessions consisted of a bulletproof beard and a bottle of whiskey at the cabin to go along with his madness… which could have been seen as a red flag. Nevertheless, the hunt was on as he set out by foot, endlessly trudging across the strange new landscape, until… KAPOW! The southpaw Yeti came at Ahab with a “hay maker,” knocking him to the snowy surface and in the process destroying his hat and trimming his once beautiful and bulletproof beard. Now, Ahab is no stranger to the sucker punch, having been ambushed by a “Bad Weather Ninja” and shipwrecked by an angry sea, but after being taunted by the Yeti, Ahab had enough. He made it this far and he wasn’t going to back down. Although his iconic image had been altered, Ahab still had his Alpha SL Jacket on his back and the “stank eye” to go with it. Ahab was out for revenge.

The ensuing battle was one that Ahab will never forget, mainly because he came away with a keepsake; the Yeti’s arm! The same arm that had knocked him to the ground. When all was said and done, the Yeti’s howling winds and the pummeling power of the Yeti’s wrath could not penetrate the Arcteryx Alpha SL Jacket, and the fury, unleashed by Ahab overpowered the mighty creature.

The Arcteryx Theta AR Jacket: A Product Video Adventure

The Adventures of Captain Ahab: Episode 2

Captain Ahab is not one who takes being ambushed lightly. Shipwrecked and sucker-punched, Ahab experiences the metaphorical benefits of the Arcteryx Theta AR Jacket through the teachings of his new friend. He begins to understand that not only does he live to endure harsh conditions but, with the right Arcteryx Outerwear, he also seeks them out. To be comfortable is not enough; Ahab must be comfortable in climates that most civilized human beings deem unsuitable for play. So when the weather gets the best of Ahab, he aims to even the score by belittling the climate’s most devastating attack.

By land and sea, being dressed in the Theta AR’s waterproof Gore-Tex Pro Shell (or “Dragon Shell”) gives Ahab the opportunity to adapt to and endure the brutal attack of the Bad Weather Ninja. Its well thought out design that features WaterTight Zippers, Pit Zips, One-hand adjustablility and a longer cut which stifles his foe and renders the ninja powerless.

You see, we have all been sucker-punched by a bad weather ninja, it is a life lesson that teaches us to be better prepared, especially here in the Pacific Northwest where it is foolish to believe the meteorologist whose extended forecast calls for blue skies and no precipitation. But no matter where you are on the globe, unsuspecting rain, wind, and snow or the combination of all three can kill the mood and in some cases threaten your life. Real talk. Don’t be caught off guard. To be well prepared is to give yourself the upper hand in any situation.
